We purchased a lifetime subscription to XM on January 26th 2011. Today we tried to activate a radio in a new vehicle we purchased only to be told "NO".

We paid $418.96 for this supposed lifetime subscription. DON'T BUY IT!!!! We have contacted the Better Business Bureau and hope to force XM to honor our contract. We don't want a refund (altought they said no to that as well) we just want our radio activated.

There reasons for not honoring our agreement is that this lifetime subscription is non-transferable. It's still us just a different vehicle!

Monetary Loss: $418.

Location: Eugene, Oregon

Yeh I purchased xm lifetime subscription around 2011, I called to make my payment and the associate asked if I wanted the lifetime, said I could make three or four payments monthly to pay it, it was $490.00 around there, so I did it. about 2 years later I received a new radio for Christmas and went to activate it and was told it was going to be $75.00 I was like what for, was told it was a activation fee and I was only allowed to do it 3 times, I was never told that at all when they sold it to me. I am still using that same radio I take good care of it because Im not going to let them win!

A, "life time subscription" should mean the, "life time" of the 2 parties involved in the Agreement, meaning me and Sirius, but after buying 3, "life time" subscriptions in 2007, I now learn that, "life time" assumes that I keep the same car for my ENTIRE life.

WTF?

I have a lifetime agreement for xm purchased in 2009 and I was told that it included the internet. allof the sudden in 2014 they sent me abill for the internet I called customer service and they gave me credited me and I found out in 2015 that it was only a one time credit.

whatcan I do I saw someplace there was a class action suit. who do I contact and what can be done

Great news today... I just found out that the LIFETIME subscription I bought 8 years ago from SiriusXM radio is only transferable into ONE CAR (for a $75 fee)!!!

So that means when I sell my new car in a few years (the car I just transferred it to)... I WILL LOSE MY LIFETIME SUBSCRIPTION!! So I told the lady on the phone "how is that possible to lose a LIFETIME subscription if I'm not dead." lol

It should not be a advertised as a LIFETIME subscription, It should be advertised as a LIFETIME CAR subscription! Deceiving...

FALSE ADVERTISING! I was never told on the phone of the details when I was solicited. They got me good!! But thank you any way SIRIUS Radio...

me and many others I'm sure will be switching to free internet radio through bluetooth soon and you will be out of business! :)

I bought my "lifetime" subscription in 2008 FOR THREE CARS, had them transferred twice with no problems and when I tried to do this TODAY was told the same thing that the "lifetime" subscription was for the "lifetime" of the CAR.....WHICH IS BOGUS because they have done this two other times.....I really like the product BUT because they think they have a monopoly on the market, they have changed to being deceptive and not honoring their commitments.......

XM gets you to buy in at a low rate and take your credit card number. The next year (you forget about it) and they bill your credit card for twice the amount of the original subscription hoping you notice.

Their online myaccount will not allow you to cancel. It then pops up a request to chat online for fast help. LIVECHAT cannot cancel a subscription but they only tell you this after they collect a bunch of information from you. They give you an 800# and then you wait another 20-30 minutes to cancel.

At that point, they tell you they'll give it to you for 1/2 the cost they just charged you. It's a scam. They are hoping people will forget about it and not call.

They've made it so difficult to cancel you'll give up. DON"T LET THEM TAKE YOUR MONEY.

When I bought my lifetime subscription, I was told it was transferable a maximum of three times.

Then why did you by it? That's the worst deal ever!

Stop blaming people for not reading their contracts. For most people, there was no written contract.

I had a rep specifically tell me I could transfer it three times (without promting me). I knew that was wrong since I had myself read the terms. However, I see 100's of these supposed lifetime subscriptions on Ebay. They tell you not to call Sirius.

I sure they were not legitimately purchased lifetime. Sirius and XM have pretty good accounting.

All your payments are available online. So I don't believe people who say they bought a lifetime and had it turned off.

It's life time for that specific vehicle it not transferable between vehicles

Thank you for the warning folks

I paid for a subscription for a year. The radio was never activated.

I called and complained and they said I never paid. Had a three way conversation with my credit card company who verified I was charged. They refused to honor it so I cancelled the payment.

They are the most screwed up organization out there. Don't trust them - EVER!

Seriously .... Do you folks actually READ your contracts with SiriusXM, or those made before the merger?

A lifetime subscription is only transferable to a new radio, and that can only be done twice. A new radio is one that has NEVER been activated (including those activated by a dealer or the automobile manufacturer).

The contracts are narrowly written. More than half of the complaints here fall outside the stipulations of the contract.

My experience was a bit different. After raising their monthly charge by calling it copyright fees I called in to complain and cancel my service.

The guy on the other line took my information and offered me a deal on lifetime membership for 2 radios at half the price. I gave him my credit card info and was told that he had placed it in the system and that I would not need to worry about it again. After they raised their price for lifetime I received a call that I needed to pay for the last 2 months of service or be turned off. I told them I had purchased lifetime on both my radios, they proceeded to tell me they had no record of that and now I needed to pay the new price for the lifetime subscriptions.

Over twice the price I was promised. I wound up paying so as not to deal with hidden costs, but I will never recomend them to anyone else ever again.

I purchased the module for my H2 in 2006 when it became available. When I went to renew in 2008, I was offered a lifetime subscription which I purchased. Now they are after me to pay for a two year subscription! In at least three of the most frustrating calls to the so called customer service, I made absolutely no headway. The last call they ended the call when they hung up on me! Now they shut off my radio. I have four other units in as many cars that all have a “lifetime” subscription with the in addition to the H2.

I will NEVER purchase any SiriusXm subscriptions ever again. They have totally lost me as a customer and now will post this on ALL the different forums I am a member in.

A good experience you tell 10 people. A bad experience, you tell 100!

Went through the XMP3 nightmare where I had to replace is a few times to find one that would actually work for more than a week. In the middle of that torture I was offered the lifetime subscription and paid for it.

A week later had to replace the XMP3 and they tried to charge me the $75 transfer activation fee. I explained that it was they that had sent me a defective unit for the 2nd time and I sure as *** was not going to pay them $75 because the product they are selling is completely unstable. Not sure how units I went through before I received one that worked. In the end they didn't credit me back the money they freaking credited my XM account so I have had a +$75 balance for years.

My XMP3 has now lasted a few years but it's getting ready to die I believe. I would be willing to buy another one but I am willing to bet they will claim I used up all of my transfers when I kept receiving defective equipment. So far it looks like it was worth it for me but a lot of headache to find a working XMP3 and arguing about the $75 transfer fee. Now I can't find a single package that contains Talk Radio 168 so no way will I renew.

I only need one channel to be honest and I guess they no longer offer it yet I still currently have it available on my dying XMP3. I am betting if I replaced it with a new one many of the channels I currently have available would disappear.

Recently,I have been receiving notices for payment due. I have called customer service at least three times without anybody telling me what happened to my lifetime subscription.

My most recent call ended with the customer service rep hanging up on me when I kept pressing about what happened to my lifetime subscription. Claims I don't have one but I paid for it in 2008 and haven't been billed or paid anything since.

The absolute worst experience, Even worse then Verizon!

Highly doubt I will ever subscribe again. Afraid to trust them.

When I questioned what happened to my lifetime, they claimed I didn't have one but I have not paid since 2008! When I continued to press, the rep hung up on me and I heven't heard anything since.
